Retail Team Member

Job Summary: We are looking for a hard-working, motivated, and trustworthy Retail Team Member to join the Cape Ann SUP + Surf family. This person will help customers find the perfect equipment and apparel. They should be interested and/or involved in paddleboarding, surfing, and/or watersports. This position is based out of our retail shop (aka. The “Board Barn” at 2 southern Ave in Essex).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers by greeting them; offering them assistance.
• Direct customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggesting gear and items that fit their needs.
• Perform opening/closing duties, as needed.
• Advise customers by providing information on products.
• Help customers make selections by offering suggestions and opinions.
• Processes payments by totaling purchases + processing checks, cash, and CC’s
• Keep clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.
• Update and add inventory into the inventory tracking system, as needed.
• Continuously arrange and organize inventory in the shop, as needed.
• Find “homes” for new inventory on the racks as shipments arrive.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.
• Answers the phones and assist customers with scheduling of services.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Must be a team player
• Must be able to work weekends
• Must be responsible and trustworthy
• Must be comfortable meeting new people daily and striking up conversations
• 1+ years of sales experience preferred but not a deal-breaker. If you’re the right person, we’re willing to train you.
• 18+ preferred but, again, if you are the right person, it’s not a deal-breaker.
• Must be able to use a computer
• Must be psyched about the SUP/Surf lifestyle and the Cape Ann SUP + Surf team!

On-Water Guide

Job Summary: We are looking for hard-working and trustworthy Rental, Lesson & Tour Guides and Surf Instructors to join the CA SUP + Surf Co family! This person will be on the water and on the beach, a lot. This position is based out of multiple of our rental/tour locations (Essex Marina – 35 Dodge St. in Essex and Pavilion Beach, 55 Commercial St. in Gloucester, Long Beach - Cape Ann Motor Inn). While you will most likely get a killer tan, the job involves constant customer interaction in a relaxed, fun, and vacation-like setting. This person should be comfortable talking to new customers, making them feel safe, and teaching proper techniques and etiquette.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Welcome customers and non-customers by greeting them; answering questions, having them fill out waivers, etc.
• Outfitting customers with the appropriate gear for their height, weight, experience level, etc.
• Perform on-land portion of the rental, lesson, and tour for each group
• Advise customers of proper waterway navigation and etiquette
• Help customers bring boards to-and-from the water to our area
• Processes payments by totaling purchases + processing checks, cash, and CC’s
• Keep clientele informed of events/happenings at the Board Barn
• Update the team on wind/weather conditions at the location – safety is always our priority (fun taking a close second).
• Complete opening/closing duties as necessary.
• Tidy up location by picking up trash, organizing, etc. as needed.
• Watching all rental, lesson, tour equipment when not on the water.

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Must have completed a lifeguard certification in the past and/or be willing to complete one before the first day of work.
• Must be able to work mornings, some evenings, and weekends
• Must be a team player, responsible and trustworthy
• 1+ years of on-water experience preferred but it’s not a deal-breaker.
• 18+ preferred but, again, if you are the right person, it’s not a deal-breaker.
• Must be able to use a computer/iPad
• Must be psyched about the SUP/Surf lifestyle and the CA SUP + Surf team!
